Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)The National Science Foundation sponsors a number of mathematical research projects in which undergraduates participate. For a comprehensive list of REU programs,visit the AMS website George Washington University, Carleton College and St. Olaf College host summer programs for undergraduate women in mathematics. Workshops in mathematics for undergraduates. Budapest Semesters in Mathematics. This program is popular with Smith math majors; an average of 3 students participate each year. Talk to faculty in the department to find out who is coaching students for the following competitions: Putnam Competition (sponsored by the MAA) . A day solving 12 hard math problems, requiring little more than calculus. Solve one and you're better than average... Early December. This site provides detailed evaluations of graduate programs in mathematics (and other disciplines). You choose the criteria you want to count, and also the weight each criterion should have. The search engine then ranks graduate programs according to your criteria, displaying their ranking and how well they perform with respect to each of your criteria.
