There are a number of national contests in mathematics. Smith usually competes each year in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (sponsored by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) and in the William Thayer Putnam Prize competition. Ruth Haas will coach a team to compete in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling and Jim Henle organizes the Putnam. For both exams, there are no tryouts. Everyone is welcome!
